چکیده

Listeriosis is an emerging infection with major public health concerns worldwide because of occurrence associated food-borne outbreak and significant risk mortality morbidity. This study aimed to isolate Listeria monocytogenes in raw meat samples selected markets Nasarawa State, determine the level contamination, as well antibiogram isolates. A total 60 were collected from different animals, including 4 cow meat, goat chicken each market. In all, analyzed microbiologically using method Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI, 2009). Out was detected 32 samples, giving overall prevalence 53.5%. Sixteen out 20 (80%) 10 (50%) 6 (30%) infected monocytogenes. All isolates further subjected biochemical analysis for confirmation The results revealed presence over 50% analyzed. 53.5% considered high indicated hazard linked consumption meats sold State if not properly cooked. susceptibility tests also conducted disc diffusion method. that most resistant commonly used antibiotics such Septrin, Ampiclox, Erythromycin, Zithromycin, Amoxillin, Pefloxacin. However, some relatively sensitive Ciprofloxacin, Sreptomycin, Gentamycin, Rifampicin. signal a chemotherapeutic problem case any infection.

Isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from raw milk.

During a recent outbreak of listeriosis, we examined 121 raw milk samples and 14 milk socks (filters). Listeria monocytogenes was recovered from 15 (12%) of 121 milk specimens and 2 (14%) of 14 milk socks. The optimal processing method consisted of cold enriching diluted milk for 1 month with culture to selective broth, followed by plating.

Listeria spp. are Gram-positive and facultative anaerobic bacteria, with a low G+C content in their genetic material. The genus comprises six species, namely Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria ivanovii, Listeria seeligeri, Listeria innocua, Listeria welshimeri, and Listeria grayi. The only pathogenic species of this genus is L. monocytogenes, although there have been few reports on the capability...

Listeria monocytogenes in retailed raw chicken meat in Malaysia.

This study aimed to determine the prevalence Listeria monocytogenes in raw chicken meat samples at hypermarkets and wet markets. Chicken drumsticks, breasts, and thighs were randomly selected. The most probable number (MPN) PCR method was used to quantify the L. monocytogenes in the samples. Listeria monocytogenes was detected in 20% of the samples. Occurrence of L. monocytogenes was highest in...
